Remember gold Apple Watch Edition? It was Apple's effort to create a luxury smartwatch that didn't really go anywhere, and led the company to abandon the idea back in 2016. Now, three years later, two popular YouTubers have decided to bring the idea back to life, just with another spin.
Casey Neistat, along with Zack Nelson from the "JerryRigEverything" channel, came together to do something crazy: drop an Apple Watch Series 4 into 24 carat pure gold. It is a fun video to look at itself, but especially because of the outcome. Despite being dipped in 24-carat pure gold, Apple Watch turns on. What makes this a gold Apple Watch that can actually run the latest version of watchOS – something the original 18-carat gold Apple Watch can't do.
Here is the video:
To make this happen, had to pair Take some necessary steps. To make it hydrophilic to survive dip in gold, they put Apple Watch in an electro-cleaning solution. They also had to etch the chromium out of the case, causing it to dip into an acid solution.
This is obviously not an option for everyone. Or someone, really. But it just puts it on the same pedestal as the original Apple Watch Edition that starts d at $ 10,000. Fortunately, Apple has decided that while Apple Watch can still look high-profile with its overall design and watch band, a gold option is no longer needed.
Of course, a new Apple Watch Series 4 is not necessarily cheap but it is certainly cheaper than the original gold model.
Nevertheless, it is fun to see someone else dipping their own Apple Watch in pure gold, if nothing but curiosity. It's kind of crazy as it turns back after all this. And with the strap duo choosing to put on at the end, it's actually a nice look wearable.
What do you think of the yellow-colored Apple Watch?
